Description
Bee Enchanting is a graffiti botanical in the Overgrowth Collection where street art ephemera, botanicals, bees and other garden creatures “grow” over a classic image—signaling the “death” to outdated modalities and social norms. Bee Enchanting captures the fleeting qualities of innocence, where botanicals are almost obscuring the ingénue signifying changes in sensuality and the passing of time. Reinterpreted foundational portrait by American artist Abbott Handerson Thayer (1849-1921). Subject: Alma Wollerman Thayer, wife of the artist’s son Gerald Thayer.
