“This collection is a sensory journey. A fusion of art and nature. The rawness of graffiti and the delicate beauty of botanical forms. It explores the world of botanicals by reimagining their essence through abstract interpretations and hand-cut floral shapes. The use of traditional techniques infused with contemporary abstraction expresses the inherent complexities and layers found in street art and the natural world.”

Archival Pigment Ink, Acrylic, Spray Paint and Gold Leaf on Birch Panel, Gold Leaf Edges Year: 2021 Size: 24 × 24 inches Signed: On Verso COA provided
The graffiti botanical `You Give Me Butterflies No. 1` captures the euphoria I experienced while photographing in a Butterfly Pavilion. Immersed among hundreds of butterflies is a transformative encounter, as they whimsically flutter around, briefly alighting before fluttering away. It`s akin to receiving a thousand gentle kisses—a playful reminder of new love`s fleeting yet joyful moments, inspiring the title of this piece.
`You Give Me Butterflies No. 1` seamlessly merges graffiti and botanical elements in an unexpected fusion. Vibrant butterflies, blossoms, and street art ephemera are reimagined as individual drawings. Utilizing colors from decaying graffiti walls as my palette, imagery is meticulously burnished into the substrate`s surface. Multiple stages of acrylic, pigment ink, spray paint, gold leaf, and occasional paper intertwine to compose a uniquely individual artwork, blending nature with the urban landscape.

Just as graffiti makes its mark on city and becomes part of its fabric and identity, so do landmarks! With the Landmark Love Series, Katrina explores some of her favorite landmarks in her beloved town of Kansas City and beyond. Starting with a photograph of the icon itself, she creates a pop-art-like rendering, infusing it with the color of graffiti—celebrating both her love of street art, the city itself and the icons we cherish. This limited edition series is offered on high-quality, high-definition metal with a durable gloss finish in various sizes. The lightweight, yet sturdy metal prints arrive ready to hang with a recessed black wood frame and wire mounted on the underside for easy, traditional picture hanging.

Who’s a morning person? This gal. Although, the time change has messed with my mojo. 😉 “Daybreak” evokes that moment when the natural world is awakening. Archival Pigment Ink, Acrylic and Spray Paint on Birch Panel with a UV Matte Varnish and Natural Wood Edges. Available on krmixedmedia.com under works/Zen Garden Collection. P.S. Choice of music? Couldn’t resist. 🩷
