Description
Bee Wise is a graffiti botanical in the Overgrowth Collection where street art ephemera, botanicals, bees and other garden creatures “grow” over a classic image—signaling the “death” to outdated modalities and social norms. The foundation piece, features a woman with a very wise, sharp gaze that seems to put the viewer “on notice.” In an era where women’s rights have once again come under attack, she’s drilling home the idea that we all need to wise up. Reinterpreted foundational portrait done by an unidentified British artist. Sitter: Mrs. Elizabeth Boucher. 18th Century.
