Description

Paradise Found is a graffiti botanical in the Overgrowth Collection where street art ephemera, botanicals, bees and other garden creatures “grow” over a classic image—signaling the “death” to outdated modalities and social norms. The figure in Paradise Found is obscured by botanicals fruits and pomegranates which symbolize death and fertility. The juxtaposition of the lush ferns, fruits and florals against the graffiti and chain-link fence is a reminder that beauty is always balanced by grit. Reinterpreted foundational portrait by American artist Henry Peters Gray (1819- 1877) 18th Century.
