STREET ART INSPIRED ABSTRACTS are an expression of my love for graffiti and the raw nature of it. I am drawn to it’s gestures, color and patina. Since 2011, I’ve traveled to 24 cities across 11 countries to photograph graffiti in some of the most incredible street art environments around the world.

When I’m shooting, there’s a connection I feel to the heart of a city and the people who choose to put their mark on it. To me, graffiti is the ultimate in “mark making”.

Once I capture an image, I know how I will incorporate the essence of it—how it will become part of my layering process. Extracting color and imagery from my photographs to use as “street ephemera”, the gestures become individual drawings and walls become my palette.

My abstract works are an expression of how I turn graffiti into my own visual language.
