The abstract Day Dream No. 2 illustrates the use of street art and graffiti as my own visual language. Just as I explore a city while photographing graffiti (selecting what images to capture for color, line and patina), the layering of street ephemera in my abstract work is a process of discovery. Each gesture becomes an individual drawing, the gesture is imbued with the color of graffiti walls and hand printed on the surface as the composition builds layer by layer, intertwined with my own gestures, acrylic paint, paper, spray paint and other mediums. The definition of daydream is a series of pleasant thoughts that distracted one’s attention from the present—exactly what I hope to achieve with this atmospheric work.
