Description

Why Not Coexist? No. 2 is a graffiti botanical created in response to the great political divide within America. While the beautiful of nature and botanicals still unites so many of us, contrasts in policies could me more apparent. In this work, the graffiti “L” and “R” exist on a very similar plane to demonstrate hope that one day we will be brought back together. Why Not? Can it be possible. I chose to feature roses in this piece because of their duality: beautiful blooms and sticky thorns. This work combines graffiti with botanicals in the most unexpected approach. Vibrant butterflies, blooms and street art ephemera are re-imagined. All elements become individual drawings. Colors from decaying graffiti walls become my palette. Imagery is physically burnished into the surface of my substrates in multiple stages intertwined with acrylic, pigment ink, spray paint, gold leaf and occasionally paper to form a composed work of art that is uniquely individual blending nature with the urban landscape.
